Before and After

Well, we did it! This is a shot looking down the length of the property before they started cutting the trees down. It only took them about three days and they got them all cut. They cut the wood in firewood sized pieces and left them in piles and kinda even raked some of the piles and piles of pine needles. We have a couple of friends that are taking the wood. It seems so different and the people across the street feel it even makes their yard seem bigger. I just feel a little bad for all the quail that lived in those trees.

Wow! That's great they did all that. Sure saved you work and money!! Will they still plant some trees (oops, not trying to be funny :0) for you? What kind? Will they give you privacy later on?

THEY won't plant the trees. We pick them out and plant them. They gave us a list of choices but we don't like any of them. We can have others approved. They just want to be sure we don't pick something that will grow tall. I'm leaning towards bushes....like Burning Bush that turns bright red in the fall. It still needs to be cleaned up and the stumps ground up so it'll be spring before we do it.

Jami, they cut all the big pine and fir trees along the road (Cemetery Road.)

Those trees did a lot more than provide shade & bird shelter - they protected the yard from cold (& hot) blasts of air - the temperatures in their yard were usually at least 5 degrees different than mine because of the trees - If the hedge on the east side were taken out there would be more radical change.
